Simon Porte Jacquemus dives into the world of interior design with the launch of its new “Objets” collection. Drawing inspiration from the influential Italian architect Gae Aulenti, this collection showcases the brand’s ability to transcend the boundaries of fashion and art, bringing its unique aesthetic into the realm of everyday objects.

After a successful collaboration with Danish bedding brand Tekla in 2022, Jacquemus is now expanding into the interior design sector. The “Objets” collection serves as a tribute to Gae Aulenti, a visionary architect whose work has long inspired Simon Porte Jacquemus, the brand’s founder and designer. Aulenti is best known for her exceptional work on museum interiors, such as the Musée d’Orsay and the Grassi Palace in Venice, home to the Pinault collection.

The designer recalls, “I’ve always dreamed of developing a furniture line… I’m a big fan of designer chairs and I’ve been collecting vintage Gae Aulenti chairs for many years, ever since I saw them in Jacques Deray’s film ‘La Piscine’“. To bring his vision to life, Jacquemus has collaborated with Exteta, an Italian luxury furniture manufacturer based in Brianza, north of Milan. Together, they have revisited Aulenti’s iconic “Locus Solus” models from 1964, featured in the same film that sparked Jacquemus’ passion for her work.

In this limited edition capsule collection, Jacquemus reimagines Aulenti’s chair, armchair, and sunbed designs by incorporating his signature flair. He adds a touch of nostalgia with yellow striped fabric reminiscent of 1980s beach mattresses and parasols. The collection is available on the brand’s website and at their Avenue Montaigne boutique, with prices ranging from 1,188 euros for the chair to 5,940 euros for the chaise longue.

Objets” also serves as an extension of the Raphia ready-to-wear collection, set to be unveiled in December 2022. The collection features around fifteen accessories and design objects, such as trays, plates, vases, bowls, key rings, and baskets. These pieces are primarily made of leather and crafted in Italy, echoing the high-quality design accessories found in luxury houses. The whimsical spirit of Jacquemus is evident in golden brass hairpins and leather clothes pegs, with prices ranging from 150 to 400 euros and above.
