For Spring/Summer 2019, Sarah Burton premiered an Alexander McQueen collection steeped in the British tradition of the brand. The painter Francis Bacon and John Deakin, the 20th-century photographer, who captured the louche lives in London’s Soho, were key touchstones for the collection’s graphic-heavy tailoring, hacked-up trench coats, beautiful color-daub prints, brushstroke satin embroideries, graffiti jacquard, beaded-on-tulle-on-silk suits, sharp edges and biker-inspired looks.
