Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2019 – Paris Fashion Week

Sarah Burton presented her Spring/Summer 2019 collection for Alexander McQueen at the Jardin du Luxembourg’s Orangerie du Sénat.
The collection, featuring 41 looks, was ‘’about sisterhood, about women’s milestones and rituals: birth, christenings, weddings, funerals’’.
Burton sees the Alexander McQueen women typically self-sufficient, determined and powerful in her femininity, yet vulnerable. For these women, she created long-sleeved dresses slitted in strategically-positioned locations – across the bodice, over the shoulders and diagonally up the skirt -to reveal a bit more flesh, while impeccably embroidered suiting and even more leather styled with hefty choker necklaces and hanging pendants or Twenties-looking gowns embroidered with countless replicas of medieval talismans.
Her work was as usually extraordinary, each piece, remarkably considered and executed.
