Held at the cabaret La Nouvelle Eve, built in 1898 and located at the foot of the Butte Montmartre, Andreas Kronthaler’s Fall/Winter 2022 collection for Vivienne Westwood was an elegant tribute to the world of theater.

Kronthaler delivered a captivating collection that was full of artistic references and archival nods, mixing genres and eras.
In a genderless spirit, Andreas Kronthaler played with opulence in both materials and volumes that was reflected in ruched dresses in taffeta or satin, glittering bangs and furs lining the pieces, sweatpants decorated with a Harlequin diamond pattern or in voluminous athletic-inspired tracksuits with drawstrings.
“Art is an imitation of life; it stands outside time. It’s more about making clothes than fashion. I wanted to do something noble and formal, to make a moving painting – a picture come to life in order to seduce the mind through the eyes. You discover the truth through working and learn something from it”, Kronthaler said of his collection, before adding, “Clothes are able to mirror your inner being, whether it is happiness, harmony, fear, kindness, anger, and respect. But more than any other quality, I am looking for lightness”.
