Balenciaga has taken to Paris Fashion Week for Fall/Winter 2020 with an ‘’immersive’’ experience: a floor covered with water up to the first three rows of seats, creating a vast, mesmerizing reflecting pool while LED graphics on the ceiling mimicked storm, fire and thunder.
For the luxury label, its creative director Demna Gvasalia delivered commentary on climate change and a menacing, mostly-black assortment – as ‘’religious purity, minimalism, austerity’’ arose from memories of the Orthodox church in Georgia, and looking at the Spanish Catholic origins of Cristóbal Balenciaga – for the cold weather season, remixing house signatures and adventurous new items alike.
