Olivier Rousteing is marking Balmain’s return to haute couture after 16 years as a guest on the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture’s Spring/Summer 2019 schedule. The last time the French fashion house showed at haute couture week was in 2002 when Oscar de la Renta was still creative director.
The heavy bling, sharp shoulders, nipped-in waists, intricate embroideries and rich textures regularly seen from the label were all present, but for this time, the volume was turned way, way up, both literally and figuratively to ‘’bring back the Parisian DNA’’.
