Huge lover and collector of ceramics, Kris Van Assche naturally found his inspirations for the Berluti Spring/Summer 2021 collection from this art form.
And for the first time since becoming Berluti creative director, the Belgian designer has collaborated with a partner on his Spring/Summer 2021 ready-to-wear: the Californian ceramic artist Brian Rochefort, known for his works at the crossroads between sculpture and ceramic – he has one of Rochefort’s oversize vessels, which drip and bulge with color and texture.
The behind-the-scenes of the collaboration was previewed in a 10-minute video, staging a digital effort between the designer’s home in Paris and Brian Rochefort’s studio in Los Angeles, and unveiled a part of the collection. The collection will be fully unveiled in December 2020 before to hit stores in January 2021.
So, the patterns of the Rochefort’s sculptures were translated into vibrantly patterned on silk shirts, densely textured knits and flecked patina motifs on the brand’s signature shoes.
