Emerging French menswear designer Boramy Viguier blended religious, mystical and surreal references in his Spring/Summer 2021 collection developed during COVID-19 lockdowns in Paris.
Evoking the image of ghost spirits dressed up for a ceremony, Viguier fuses romantic floral prints with sci-fi crocodile vinyl and other shiny materials, while sporty iridescent capes and leather coats that added a sinister utilitarian touch. There were also the aqua and lilac sweater vests, seamed and stitched together to create something both noble and raw, outsized suit jackets with no sleeves, protection vests made out of a stock of vinyl he had, wadded with scraps of leftover fabrics or technical athletic wear with Tarot divination – tarot is one of his recurrent references.
All these pieces will be offered to buyers as one-offs, each was made from leftover fabrics and items from around the studio, forcing the designer to make do with what he had to hand.
