Celine Spring-Summer 2021

Celine Spring/Summer 2021

October 29, 2020

For Spring/Summer 2021, Hedi Slimane had transported his models to Monaco and staged his virtual show in the Stade Louis II decked out with Celine flags and emblems, including one dusted large on the lawn.

This season, the Parisian house fully embraced the Gen Z’s more laid-back approach to fashion and mixing it with Celine’s, more conservative, bourgeois chic house codes.

The new Celine woman’s ‘’always the Parisian but with a new energy – she listens to rap/hip-hop music’’, wearing Celine-logo baseball caps so casually styled and bucket hats, hands thrust in the pockets of her jeans, shorts, and ’80s style blousons. High heels were swapped out for casual white sneakers, flat hiking boots and even a pair of fuzzy bedroom slippers. Even traditionally more ‘’dressed up’’ pieces such as a sequined dress and oversized blazers were pared down with loose and sporty parkas or shorts.

Overall the collection felt more casual, sporty and easy, with plenty of upmarket sweatpants, pert running shorts, mom jeans with just the right rips, windbreakers and varsity jackets while handbags still thrummed with bourgeois aspirations and luxury.
