Chanel will present its Métiers d’Art 2024/2025 (Pre-Fall 2025) collection on December 3rd in the enchanting city of Hangzhou, China. As the brand continues its search for a new Creative director, this show reaffirms Chanel’s unwavering commitment to its show schedule and its dedication to the Chinese market.

Hangzhou, often referred to as “paradise on earth“, serves as the perfect backdrop for this exquisite event. Known for its stunning West Lake, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its rich history in silk production, the city embodies the essence of luxury and craftsmanship for which Chanel is known. By choosing Hangzhou, Chanel not only pays homage to the city’s cultural significance, but also underscores its focus on China, a crucial market for the brand, especially at a time of slowing luxury spending. The timing of the event is particularly significant, as it coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France.

In parallel, Chanel has decided to relaunch its Cruise 2025 (Resort 2025) collection in Hong Kong on November 5th.

The upcoming Métiers d’Art collection in Hangzhou marks the first presentation in China since 2009. The last Métiers d’Art show in the country, designed by the legendary Karl Lagerfeld, took place in Shanghai, while plans to return to Beijing in 2020 were unfortunately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bruno Pavlovsky, President of Fashion and President of Chanel SAS, explained the decision to hold the show in Hangzhou, citing the city’s connection to the coromandel lacquer screens that adorn Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s Paris apartment. He described Hangzhou as an inspiring location that perfectly captures the essence of the Métiers d’Art collection.

Following the departure of Creative director Virginie Viard, the Métiers d’Art 2024/2025 collection will be designed by Chanel’s in-house team.
