Dolce & Gabbana are, along with Etro and Armani, the only three brands to present a physical show this season. And to make the point, designers Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce wanted to shine brightly, both literally and figuratively.

Entitled “Light Therapy”, a symbol of the return to life and exuberance after a gray period marked by the pandemic, the collection took place in their Metropol runway room decorated like a multicolored cathedral of lights you’ll find during night-time festivals in the Puglia region which so marked the childhood of the designers.
“Light is good therapy for this moment. Now we need to see light, joy and happiness in the eyes of people. That’s what we want”, said Stefano Gabbana.
Interpreting their light therapy in clothes, they made them shine with thousands of Swarovski crystals. When clothes do not reflect light through these thousands of crystals, they shine through the fabrics (silk, satin, brocade, shiny leather, etc.), the floral patterns, the leopard or zebra prints and the saturated colors.
The aesthetics of the 2000s also made its comeback this season at Dolce & Gabbana who certainly aren’t afraid of nostalgia. Think second-skin knit tops, unstructured or low-waisted jeans, silky shirts, string cardigans, tight white shorts – the same worn by David Gandy in the brand’s ”Light Blue” fragrance campaign in 2006 as well as wide blazers.
