The world’s biggest sporting event, the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, has come to an end with Argentina’s glorious victory over France, winning the third star in the Albiceleste’s history. Although the competition has ended, the football fever has not fallen. It is still there, and it is still alive and kicking, as the 2022-2023 French Football Championship matches continue in the festive atmosphere of the end-of-year celebrations and the 2022-2023 Champions League matches will resume after the holidays.
And, in this permanent quivering atmosphere, Catalan independent eyewear brand Etnia Barcelona has teamed up with iconic football club FC Barcelona, commonly known as Barça, to create an eyewear capsule that celebrates both brands’ origins.
Inspired by the Mediterranean air of Barcelona, one of Europe’s most open and trendy capitals and the common birthplace of both partners, the collaborative collection includes two drops, the first of which marks the beginning of the collab with seven new unique styles. Six of the seven styles are in Barça colors, celebrating the historic moments of one of the most legendary soccer clubs in the world: Wembley 1992 when the club won its first European Champion Clubs’ Cup title; Paris 2006 when Barça won the 2nd Champions League in its history, against Arsenal; Rome 2009, winning its third Champions League by beating Manchester United; Wembley 2011, UEFA Champions League champion against Manchester United, and again victorious, four years later in Berlin in 2015, against Juventus; and finally, UEFA Women’s Champions League champion in Gothenburg 2021 against FC Chelsea. The seventh model of the collaboration is a limited edition model with a design that deconstructs the Barça emblem to build an exclusive frame in solid black acetate with gold details.
The seven pairs of glasses are made with high quality materials: natural Mazzucchelli acetates and HD colored mineral lenses that offer a unique visual experience. Each pair will be delivered in a specially designed packaging made of Fedrigoni paper with gold details and visuals created by illustrator Pascal Möhlmann. Inside the box, there is a postcard with the illustration, a large limited edition business card and a personalized chamois. The case is recyclable, black or brown, with premium vegan skin finishes and a collaboration logo – a true homage to traditional leather football balls.
