Études Spring/Summer 2023 – Paris Fashion Week Men’s

That the creations of a collection are inspired by a place, nothing new under the sun. But for the trio Aurélien Arbet, Jeremie Egry and Jose Lamali of the label Études, it’s a huge newness, as they used to draw fondly their inspirations from the culture of their youth.

For their new seasonal offering, they took their audience to a stretch of the Petite Ceinture, Porte de la Villette – the 33 km belt of railroad tracks that wraps around Paris – which is the source of their collection. In their collection notes, the trio explained that from now on the creations will stem from the sense of place.

We’re looking at the periphery of Paris today and Paris tomorrow, and the connection between intra-and extra-muros”, explained Jeremie Egry.

The past, present and future of Paris then served as a springboard for the collection, which brings a post-industrial, utilitarian aesthetic that the trio interpreted with flair.

They revisited workwear archetypes, with elegance while colors respond to the verdant environment surrounding the industrial buildings of the place, with sage green, brown and rust. The latest looks in the collection, made with colorful abstract prints by Brussels-based French artist Jean-Baptiste Bernadet, brought an explosion of color, as a sign of hope that the future holds.
