Givenchy Spring/Summer 2019 – Paris Fashion Week


Clare Waight Keller’s used to built her collections from compelling and little-known characters like the motorbiking French adventurer Anne-France Dautheville or this season, at Givenchy, from Annemarie Schwarzenbach, a Swiss writer in the 30’s who bucked gender norms from an early age, dressing like a boy, dressing like a girl as she pleased without much resistance from her parents.
She sent out so models with short, neatly combed hair, in tuxedo jackets or leather Perfectos tucked into army pants but dressed also in evening gown. All of the dresses in the collection reflected womanly sophistication and designed to highlight the female form while for men, clothes were dominated by military-inflected tailoring.
