Husband-and-wife design duo Luke and Lucie Meier unveiled their Fall/Winter 2020 collection for Jil Sander at Casa del Design, Milan’s forthcoming museum of industrial design.
‘’It’s not about minimalism, it’s about purity’’, Lucie Meier said backstage, explaining the duo’s approach, which felt more everywoman accessible than ever this season.
The collection featured sculptural silhouettes and clean lines – but despite the tendency of minimalism to veer into the cold and impersonal, the collection is rich with intricate details.
The designers’ penchant for handcraft could be felt throughout. Though the majority of the collection was rendered in solid beige, navy and black, the Meiers played with print in floral forms while texture elevated simple shapes, giving to the collection a modern classic feeling.
