When Luke and Lucie Meier took the helm at Jil Sander in 2018, the duo put together men and women on the runway, before splitting them into two separate collections. “They needed separate nurturing”, they said at the time.

Four years after their debut, Luke and Lucie Meier have reunited the two collections into one again.

To show womenswear and menswear together came naturally. It definitively mirrors what we have done since we started designing our Jil Sander and what we consider one of the foundations of our work together”, the label shared in a press release. “We always search for a balance among elements that are usually considered opposites, formally, culturally, or emotionally. We think it is important to merge the archetypes of womenswear and menswear, to fuse delicate and functional, day and night, gowns and workwear. It creates the space of freedom and feels intimate and modern to us personally”.

While the color palette was bold, vivid and varied, with white, cream, sand, powder, peach, blue and pale green, lilac, acid green, deep raspberry and magenta, black, gold and silver as well as gradations of brown, gray and yellow, the clothing lines opted for fluidity and lightness, emphasized by elongated silhouettes and sculptural shapes not too delicate.
