Following the announcement back in December that JW Anderson would relocate to Paris Fashion Week, the Northern Irish designer presented his Fall/Winter 2019 collection. The collection was a continuation of ideas first explored with the designer’s Pre-Fall 2019 collection, which took inspiration from the work ok American artist Paul Thek. The show’s setting – which spanned five rooms – was also inspired by Thek and featured original works from his The Personal Effects of the Pied Piper series. The collection also marked the first time that Anderson designed his men’s and women’s collections together.
Speaking about the collection, Jonathan Anderson explained the ideas behind it: ‘’I thought, how do you reinterpret garments and how they should be worn? It’s the first time in a while that we have gone back to designing a men’s and women’s collection together as a continuous language. There is a kind of earthly, nomadic feel to it, where you don’t know whether it’s a beginning or an end’’.
