Kris Van Assche kicks off his new chapter at Berluti with a campaign, styled by longtime collaborator Mauricio Nardi. Photographed by Jamie Hawkesworth, the three black-and-white images each depict the torso of a nude model in a minimalist style which, by creating contrast, elegantly highlights the brand’s emblematic shoe, the lace-up ‘’Alessandro’’ oxford model designed in 1895. For the occasion, the iconic shoe is featured in three versions, all made from a single piece of leather.
Discussing the advertisement, Van Assche shares, ‘’For this first campaign, I wanted to create an image rooted in the maison’s origins and emboss it with my vision’’. Meanwhile, Berluti CEO Antoine Arnault adds, ‘’This campaign was thought of and art directed by Kris, I relate to it because it speaks of who we are while holding a promise of more to come’’.
Kris Van Assche will present his first Berluti ready-to-wear collection in January 2019 for the Fall/Winter 2019 season.
