Last year, the Cruise 2020 collection was held at Eero Saarinen’s iconic TWA Flight Center at John F. Kennedy International Airport, but this time, because of the pandemic, Louis Vuitton showcases its Cruise 2021 collection at Nicolas Ghesquière’s studio at Louis Vuitton headquarters in Paris.
‘’I looked somewhere that has been calling out to me for a long time, somewhere I hadn’t taken the time to go back to. To uncover one inspiration after another. This is an exploration of my creative identity’’, Ghesquière commented on his new creation in an official press release. Instead of inviting guests to a foreign city, the designer takes viewers on a personal journey – through his past, present and future.
A diverse color palette is seen throughout the collection, including a pair of red, black and white striped trousers that are layered beneath a beige trench coat, accessorized with a multicolored Monogram bag. The pattern on the purse is adorned with card suits, including red hearts. Similar motifs are found across accessories throughout the range, which is accentuated with a handbag in the shape of playing cards. A dynamic selection of footwear completes the lookbook, featuring mid-length boots, pumps and the Archlight sneakers.
