Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2019 – Paris Fashion Week

Nicolas Ghesquière’s Spring/Summer 2019 collection for Louis Vuitton had a distinctly space-age vibe. Show was held in a maze of neon-lit tunnels set up in the courtyard of the Louvre Museum after dark where he sent out a collection that was uniquely personal – a transporting, confident return to the futuristic forms of his early work.
Dominican model Ambar Cristal Zarzuela, making her Paris debut, opened the show in an oversized blouson with mille feuille sleeves featuring photo prints of candy-colored artificial landscapes. Then clothes played out via 1980s callbacks, including the decade’s exaggerated silhouettes, high-tech fabrications like molded rubber, space suit sleeves, Memphis Group prints, and the Parisian savoir faire of sculptural dresses in sequin-embroidered mesh.
