Following his brief hiatus – he skipped out on all of the virtual fashion shows that took place last year – Marc Jacobs came back in full force for Fall/Winter 2021, with a private runway show – his first collection in over a year – held at the New York Public Library, simultaneously projected on the facade of Bergdorf Goodman.

Our decision to pause allowed us to slow down, reflect, ruminate, re-evaluate, grieve, and take a thorough inventory of what works, what doesn’t work, what we love, what we are willing to let go of, and what was value, importance, and meaning. On the journey back to doing what we love most, in the wake of immeasurable loss, loneliness, fear, anxiety and uncertainty, I am reminded of why creativity is so vital to our existence”, Jacobs wrote in the show notes.

Replete with ’90s grunge, flannel, and a punk attitude, the collection featured Jacobs’ signature verve, with bright pops of color, bold prints, and extra-large paillettes. Lengthy silhouettes sashayed down the runway, sometimes covering from head to toe.

In a rather unusual deal, Bergdorf Goodman has the worldwide exclusive on the collection, which will land in October in store and online.
