Fashion is continuously changing, and the current fascination appears to be tailoring. Brands are on the hunt for the new holy grail of fashion, and MM6 Maison Margiela is taking the lead. The imaginative team at MM6 has displayed one of the most creative lineups in Milan, featuring a diverse collection of hybrid, layered, and reconstructed tailored pieces. The designs were based on the classic MM6 concept of the Group of Three, which offers a versatile approach to constructing and deconstructing garments.

The Group of Three concept provides garments with various meanings and functions. For instance, a coat made from three distinct materials, such as poplin, cotton, and wool, can be styled individually or layered. The Group of Three also extends to patterns, where three variations of the same design are available. The collection includes fused pieces, like a five zip boxy jacket, a denim waistcoat, and a blazer, that have been engineered to look smooth and not bulky.

Even though the Group of Three concept is strict, the design team at MM6 Maison Margiela broke away from it for their Fall/Winter 2023 collection and created lighter, more open pieces. They believe in creating archetyped clothing and then using creative styling to mix and match the pieces.

The results are alluring, as the collection showcases a conceptual authenticity. The MM6 Maison Margiela philosophy is to make cool, wearable clothing that resonates with real people. They aim to evoke emotions through their designs and utilize simple, humble materials to construct their collections.
