Last season, Jeremy Scott designed a puppet-sized collection for a complex and fantastic marionette show. This time, he called upon 36 star models, It girls and pin-ups as diverse as Maye Musk (who presented the salon show) to Precious Lee, Dita Von Teese, and Winnie Harlow (who attended it), and Hailey Bieber, Miranda Kerr, and Shalom Harlow (who modeled in it). They staged a multi-dimensional portrayal of a lady’s everyday life: outfits for business, leisure, upkeep, travels and balls.

George Cukor’s 1939 film ‘’The Women’’, based on a play by the same name and in which no male character is seen or hear – the movie is still a reference for fashion fantasy, thanks to its campy plot and Technicolor onscreen runway sequence, which featured looks by Hollywood costume legend Gilbert Adrian – inspired Jeremy Scott for his latest collection at Moschino.

Dubbed ‘’Jungle Red’’ – after the name of a nail polish shade central to the film’s plot – Moschino’s Fall/Winter 2021 fashion show pays homage to that classic scene of ‘’The Women’’.

Scott’s jungle version included: all-over printed cows, a gold crocodile dress with a tail, a sequined giraffe, a leopard-shaped bustier, and a flamingo dress. Moschino’s ‘’Jane’’ wore skirts, puff sleeves, belted trench coats, equipped with a safari kit that contained the must-haves of a woman’s beauty case: brushes, combs, tweezers but also the iconic Moschino Teddy Bear.

While the collection remained faithful to the ‘40s silhouettes, it was Scott’s touch of humour and irony that made the looks unmistakably Moschino.
