MSGM – Spring/Summer 2021 – Milan Fashion Week

October 3, 2020

Creative director Massimo Giorgetti teamed up, after the emotional short movie he unveiled for resort, with filmmaker Liam Cushing and director Senta Simond to create another video format for MSGM Spring/Summer 2021 collection. Models in front of the lens shared their personal moments, from childhood memories to their idea of what love is in an interview prepared by Milan-based Sri Lankan writer Nadeesha Dilshani Uyangoda.

‘’For MSGM, the difficulties of recent months have turned into a unique opportunity to imagine new approaches, to experiment with new strategies, to embrace the challenge of sustainability. But above all, to tell stories, to create conversations around fashion, beyond fashion. This objective has led to the creation of a new portrait, Self Portrait of a Generation, introducing the new Spring/Summer 2021 collection’’, stated the brand in its show notes.

The same 12 girls appearing in the video, spanning from models and photographers to activists and scientific researchers, including Zinnia Kumar, a London-based scientist and chartered ecologist and Roberta de Titta, a young trans woman who this week coincidentally became the first trans person on the cover of Vanity Fair Italia, are also the protagonists of the brand’s Spring/Summer 2021 lookbook shoot.

Fashion-wise, the lineup ranged from trench coats, suits, bowling shirts, cargo pants to Bermuda shorts enlivened with maxi ruffles, delicate embroideries and summery, joyful prints, including a pattern of sun umbrellas and watercolor brushstrokes of sheaves of wheat, alongside more natural, textured fabrics with a rustic feel, such as linen, as well as raw cuts.
