Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, the design duo behind Oscar de la Renta, made it worth the trip by showing an eveningwear-driven collection for Fall/Winter 2020.
Using Truman Capote’s 1966 Black and White Ball, a masquerade hosted by the author in 1966 at the iconic Plaza Hotel, as a starting point, they dipped into the house archives of bubble skirts and swans.
There were also Caravaggio still-lifes which inspired a moody floral silk faille dress while the designers also veered to a “Fantasia” reference by using some artwork from the film on a starry-night gown.
