Paul Smith Spring/Summer 2023 – Paris Fashion Week Men’s

A stronger wind of freshness blew, this season, on the new offer of Paul Smith.

The British designer was inspired by his own memories of wandering through art galleries in the 1980s on the hottest days of the year. The collection revisits the 1980s art scene to offer a new, refined yet casual take on his classic men’s silhouettes.

Loose cuts and layers abound while three-piece suits have been revisited to be “fresh, light and easy to wear“. On the latter, while the jacket and pants have a roomier cut, the third piece, the waistcoat, has been replaced by, for example, a V-neck shirt, taking the ensemble in a new, more contemporary direction.

The other big news is the introduction of a wide palette of pastel colors ranging from lavender, pistachio, powder blue, cobalt, clay and coral, and patches of color that seem to be airbrushed directly onto the pieces, creating a rather unusual blurred and gradient effect. As for his famous stripes, this season they play on duality and contrast.
