Rick Owens - Spring/Summer 2021 - Paris Fashion Week Men’s

Phlegethon, a river of blood that boils souls in the infernal regions of the underworld according to Greek mythology, gave its name to the new collection of Rick Owens.

The collection video, inviting us behind the scenes of his studio, filmed in global view in black & white and with ‘’Wish I Woz a Dog’’ by Alien Sex Fiend on the background, showed the American designer working on his signature androgynous silhouettes inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy and the Phlegethon.

The collection remained, on the whole, faithful to the Californian’s obsessions where tailoring and Larry LeGaspi’s influences for whom he is a great admirer, were in the spotlight.

We thus found many suit jackets, some with sequins which recalled the glam rock inspiration very present in the work of Rick Owens, loose and flexible cuts, deconstruction, impressive platform boots, broad shoulders, pieces with leather patches or silver patchworks… A wardrobe at the crossroads of insolence and rebellion but which is nonetheless ultra desirable.
