Stella McCartney – Fall/Winter 2020 – Paris Fashion Week

Last season, Stella McCartney celebrated her love of animals with projections of various pairings in the act of copulation. This season, she took the same approach but less intrusive. Her show was a spectacle of animal rights and eco-friendly themes, shedding light on her mission of sustainability.

Ample proportions, boxy outerwear, intense detailing and high-interest surface treatments were the focal points of McCartney’s collection, along with loose-fitting garments delicately draped over the model’s figures. Bedazzled embellishments were adorned across silks of varying neutral colors, resembling sunbursts and other homages to Mother Nature while the prints she used had a characteristically Deco feeling, and one could see a touch of the Twenties in a range of lovely dresses, some with unfussy vertical ruffles. To complement the fuzzy creatures of McCartney’s Fall/Winter 2020 show, her minimal jewelry and brooches featured the silhouettes of distinctive animals: monkeys, horses, and alligators.
