With a giraffe mask on his head and hoof-like platform ankle boots on his feet, the first model who emerged from the Thom Browne’ backstage was clearly totally out of the set of the show: a winter birch wood doused in fake snow. Then followed other silhouettes with head covered in the shape of a different animal – tortoise, hippopotamus, Shetland pony, cobra, rooster, terrier, elephant, dachshund and black sheep among many others which clearly announced the theme of the collection: Noah’s ark.
For his very first co-ed show, the American designer played biblical references. However, those of his clothes were elsewhere, united in a fashion revolution of blurring the boundaries of genders and conventional codes.
