Wooyoungmi - Spring/Summer 2021 - Paris Fashion Week Men’s

After her daughter Katie Chung, who served as creative director since 2014, left Wooyoungmi parent company, Solid Co. Ltd., in March, creative director and founder Woo Youngmi has stepped back into the designer role while maintaining her chief executive officer position as well.

For Spring/Summer 2021, Woo continued with a co-ed collection, introduced several seasons ago by her daughter Katie Chung, unveiled here in a video shot at the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord in Paris.

Inspired by dance or more precisely by German dancer and choreographer Pina Bausch, Woo Youngmi’s collection expressed with grace and elegance where movement is key both literally and figuratively. The silhouettes remain refined but generous, declined in romantic palette that was inspired by the work of Pina Bausch: pale blue, lilac, mint, lavender, pistachio, beige, sand but also magenta which was a node to Nelken (Carnations), the founding dance performance of Pina Bausch created in 1982.
