Reduce, reuse, recycle: the unofficial mantra of the Spring/Summer 2021 season guided Glenn Martens for his Y/Project collection, designed under lockdown.
This season, instead of holding a menswear fashion show, the designer worked to create a video show-and-tell to show how looks – pieces were past designs from archives and hewn from deadstock – can be worn every which way.
This new all-sustainable collection, named by Martens ‘’Evergreen’’, included 16 eco-friendly pieces that reflected the house’s trademark signatures: twisted constructions, airwashed denim, multi-cuff jeans and ultra-high rise short.
The range will be produced entirely within the European Union with a mix of certified organic and recycled fabrics and a percentage of proceeds will go to a green charity. ‘’The idea is that they will sold again every season, so they will never go on markdown’’, Martens explained.
