For Fall/Winter 2019, the 27-year-old designer Samuel Ross looked to the global migrant crisis, the right-wing nationalism, the free movement of people and the depths of fear in the current global climate of conflict.
Titled Birth Organ Synth and showcased in a dark warehouse space at The Old Truman Brewery, his collection showed an array of protective utility clothing with reflective nylon detailing, rubberised accents and embedded compasses, overlocked knitwear, performance-inspired padded, patched and zippered trousers and tailored tracksuits, intended to evoke ‘’self-preservation’’, which he feels is important in this time of political unrest.
The show also featured three new reiterations of A-COLD-WALL*’s recent sneaker collaboration with Nike, and a debut denim partnership with Diesel.
