Amanda Gorman covers Vogue US May 2021 by Annie Leibovitz

Poet Amanda Gorman has another accolade to her name: She’s the first poet to be featured on a cover for Vogue. Making her debut on a pair of delightful May 2021 covers, Amanda receives the full Vogue US treatment from photographer Annie Leibovitz. For the first cover (above), she wears a look from Louis Vuitton by Virgil Abloh’s Fall/Winter 2021 collection and looks ethereal in a Dior dress for the second (below).

For the cover story named ‘’Supernova’’, styled by Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, Amanda poses in labels such as Aliétte, Alexander McQueen, Studio 189 and Y/Project.

In the accompanying article by Doreen St. Félix, Gorman estimates she’s turned down some $17 million in offers to partner with brands. ‘’I have to be conscious of taking commissions that speak to me’’, she. said. St. Félix noted Gorman is ‘’wary about being perceived as a model’’ after signing with IMG, which, well-timed to the Inauguration of President Joe Biden as the announcement was, had been in the works long before her moment of national fame. When it came time to get dressed for the Inauguration, Gorman reached out to Prada just five days before, as they were the only brand with which she’d developed a relationship.
