An ode to Burberry’s past and present

Burberry’s pop-up, situated at 693 Fifth Avenue, showcases a striking overhanging tent in charcoal check. This design is inspired by creative director Daniel Lee’s debut show at Kennington Park, South London, and pays homage to the brand’s historic connection to the outdoors. Burberry tents from the late 19th and early 20th centuries serve as further inspiration for the temporary installation, which will run until May 2nd.

The store’s exterior features the brand’s new archive-inspired logo and the reimagined Equestrian Knight Design, providing a captivating visual experience for passersby. Positioned between Blancpain and Canada Goose, the pop-up is a testament to Burberry’s evolution and dedication to its heritage.

The journey of the Fifth Avenue location

The space at 693 Fifth Avenue has a storied history, having previously been the flagship store for Valentino until December 2020. A rent dispute with the building’s landlord, Financière Marc de Lacharrière, occurred during the pandemic, leading to a lawsuit and eventual settlement in June 2020. Valentino had signed a 15-year lease for the location in 2013, but the resolution allowed for a new chapter in the building’s fashion legacy.

The future of Burberry on Fifth Avenue

Following the conclusion of the pop-up, Burberry will establish a new Fifth Avenue store at the same location in June. Concurrently, the brand’s 57th Street flagship will undergo renovations to continue offering customers an unparalleled luxury experience. The pop-up serves as a preview of what’s to come for the iconic brand, as they continue to innovate and evolve in the ever-changing world of fashion.
