Now in his fourth season at Courrèges, Nicolas Di Felice is pushing the house founded by André Courrèges in 1961 in a more casual direction, driving a new dynamic drawn from observing a youth in search of freedom and emancipation.
After the night clubbing vibe of Fall/Winter 2022, Di Felice takes us to a laid-back beach vibe this season – the set, by Théo Mercier, is a white circle lined with sand, and as the show progressed, the set gradually turned into a giant hourglass, with a gaping sinkhole in the middle. “That’s the real theme of the show: the passing of time. It’s trying to find the right balance between the past and the future”, Di Felice explained.
Lead by a sensational Bella Hadid walking barefoot with shoes in hand on this sandy runway, wearing a semi-sheer bandeau bra and jeans with a denim jacket appliquéd like a belt, all the looks were impeccable, drawing the contours of minimalist and sporty fashion. Other standout pieces included “naiad dresses” with spiral button-up detailing from the neck to the hem, inspired by a 1974 Courrèges dress, as well as denim jackets, slingback heels and gradient coloring on tube tops.
