Drake’s and Sebago are set to merge their creative forces to revitalize the iconic boat shoe.
This partnership brings together a leading British menswear brand, Drake’s, and Sebago, a respected footwear brand from New England, to collaborate on a project named Drake’s by Sebago. Their joint mission is to reimagine and reinvent Sebago’s classic Docksides boat shoe.
Drake’s creative director Michael Hill expressed a profound affection for Sebago, recalling the Docksides as the inaugural pair of shoes he wore to school. “The Docksides hold a special place in my heart as they were instrumental in shaping my perspective on fashion and style. Their silhouette has always appealed to me”, Hill reminisced.
The revamped Docksides will be available in navy and white leather, featuring eye-catching contrast with hand-stitched detailing and a patchwork design of navy, red, and white leather, paired with leather laces. Hill’s intention was to respect the classic appeal of the shoe while adding unique elements that capture the spirit of Drake’s. “The timeless allure of this shoe was something I did not want to disrupt excessively. I carefully chose the leathers with the belief that they will develop a beautiful patina over time, especially with a bit of sun and saltwater exposure“, Hill explained.
This isn’t Sebago’s first rodeo in collaborations. Over the past year, they’ve co-created a capsule collection of loafers with Italian fashion label Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini, and also partnered with another Italian label, Slowear, on a different loafer collection.
The Drake’s by Sebago collection is slated for release this Thursday, available for purchase on both brands’ websites and in their physical stores. The shoes are priced at $225 per pair.
