Jerry Lorenzo’s Fear of God illuminated the Hollywood Bowl on Wednesday night, celebrating the brand’s first-ever runway show. The designer expressed his gratitude to the community, stating, “This was a love gift to the kid who’s been with me for 10 years“. The evening’s extravagance included a Champagne reception, a soulful piano performance by Sampha, and a 58-look runway show, followed by parting rhymes from Pusha T and a fireworks finale.

Around 4,000 guests, including fans, friends, and VIPs such as Kanye West and his wife Bianca Censori, flocked to the iconic venue to experience Lorenzo’s vision. The designer’s choice of location was a nod to the Hollywood Bowl’s legacy and the various artists who have graced its stage.

Lorenzo’s showmanship was evident, as models emerged from a light-filled doorway, silhouetted against a backdrop of clouds, evoking a heavenly entrance. The collection displayed a sense of quiet luxury, featuring tailored layers, long-line blazers, trousers with an effortless drape, and outerwear that blended softness with swagger. The designer’s guiding principle remained, “Would I wear it or not?“. He aimed to create pieces that were “effortlessly sophisticated“.

The show also marked the introduction of Fear of God’s highly anticipated collaboration with adidas. The collection showcased a moccasin-like sneaker high-top, fringed side-stripe track pants, cropped turtlenecks, and hats featuring a subtle FOG version of adidas’ signature three-stripe logo.

Reflecting on the show, Lorenzo emphasized the importance of recognizing the cost of American luxury. Drawing inspiration from his family’s history and the country’s flawed past, he said, “Whether it’s fashion or sport or whatever medium you want to express yourself, this is the best place to do that”.

Fear of God’s runway show transcended fashion, conveying a powerful message through the eclectic musical choices that ranged from protest songs to Ray Charles’ “America the Beautiful“. Lorenzo described the brand as “coming from a deeper place“.

Since its founding in 2013, Fear of God has experienced steady growth and expansion, recently appointing Alfred Chang as CEO and opening a pop-up shop in Seoul. With its Eighth Collection, Lorenzo continues to forge his own path in the fashion world, offering an unforgettable experience that pays tribute to the city that has supported him from the beginning.
