Drawing inspiration from the lifestyle and colors of Le Clos Fiorentina, Hubert de Givenchy’s picturesque seaside estate in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, the Givenchy Plage collection features a captivating blend of classic and contemporary designs.

Creative director Matthew M. Williams delves into the essence of Givenchy’s rich history, citing the founder’s love for the South of France’s distinct light and natural beauty. “Monsieur de Givenchy loved Les Clos Florentina for its protected, natural beauty and a relaxed elegance that was a world away from his busy life in Paris“, Williams said. “I wanted to explore that lifestyle through light and color, especially the pearly pink facades that are so typical of that region“.

The Givenchy Plage collection pays homage to the brand’s roots, highlighting cutouts, sailor stripes, pearls, chain motifs, and delicately woven macramé in its designs. Beach club staples and the iconic pearly pink hues dominate the color palette, creating a harmonious balance between sophistication and relaxation. Prices for the ready-to-wear pieces range from $290 to $2,100, bags from $620 to $2,450, shoes from $550 to $2,595, and accessories from $320 to $600.

As a nod to the brand’s history, two prints from 1955 are revisited in the collection. Trompe l’oeil pearls make a comeback on caftans, sarongs, and dresses, while a pale gray print inspired by ID necklaces also finds its way onto various accessories. The collection’s materials, such as regenerative cotton poplin and linen, exemplify Givenchy’s commitment to sustainability.

In a first for creative director Williams, the collection includes swimwear designed exclusively for Givenchy. The swimwear for both women and men also incorporates tags with QR codes, detailing care information, supply chain traceability, and the use of recycled materials in products and packaging.

Givenchy Plage is set to hit Givenchy stores and online platforms this month, with a rollout continuing through mid-May.
