Peter Do’s debut in men’s fashion is looking more promising than ever. After announcing his partnership with SM Entertainment, which will see him work with the company’s roster of K-pop stars, and dressing South Korean boy band NCT member Johnny Suh for the 2022 Met Gala, the Vietnamese-born, New York-based designer made his first men’s collection official on the runway at New York Fashion Week.

The opening look of the collection, consisting of 60 looks, is a double breasted jacket fastened with a single button over a white shirt, both with a large triangle cutout exposing a flash of muscled back, over a pair of full satin pants with open side seams that tapered at the ankle over square-toed boots. The model was Lee Jeno of the K-Pop group NCT who has over 3.4 million followers on Instagram. This collection thus marked a new chapter for his brand of relaxed formality and craft.

Do is a designer who is constantly refining his ideas and looking back to advance his stylish tailoring. In this way, his signature cut was highlighted with details such as cutouts in the back as well as slits on pants to reveal flashes of skin. These surprising details are applied to both the women’s and men’s pieces.

In pursuit of completing the Peter Do universe, people have always told us, ‘it’s about time that you launched men’s’, although men have been wearing Peter Do for some time now”, said Do. “The eternal question of, ‘who is the Peter Do woman?’ has always been limiting to me. Now I’m excited to say that Peter Do is for everyone because we don’t just dress women or men – we dress people”.
