In a groundbreaking move to democratize luxury fashion and promote sustainability, the prestigious Maison of Valentino elevates its Valentino Vintage initiative for 2023. Collaborating with seven vintage stores across Milan, Paris, London, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Seoul, and New York and partnering with London-based education and incubator 1 Granary, Valentino’s innovative approach takes the vintage swap-shop concept to unparalleled heights.
The upgraded Valentino Vintage program allows customers to bring their pre-loved Valentino garments to participating stores or request an online appraisal. In return, they receive a voucher to be redeemed for new Valentino items at select locations. This year, Valentino joins forces with seven carefully chosen vintage stores, each known for its cultural significance in its respective city. These stores will showcase the Maison’s most exceptional archival clothing, creating a unique branded takeover.
Notably, Rellik in London, established in 1999, offers an array of 1960s garments reminiscent of the city’s golden era. Similarly, Madame Pauline in Milan is celebrated for its diverse clothing selection, appealing to Milan’s fashion enthusiasts who effortlessly blend the old with the new.
Valentino’s collaboration with 1 Granary introduces a new dimension to the initiative. The Maison generously supplies international students and emerging creative talents with vintage Valentino pieces to fuel their design process. Renowned institutions such as IED in Milan, Institut Français de la Mode in Paris, Central Saint Martins in London, Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, Coconogacco in Tokyo, ESMOD in Seoul, and Parsons School of Design in New York receive handpicked items from Valentino’s archives. This exchange allows students to delve into the rich history and craftsmanship of Maison Valentino, inspiring the next generation of designers.
