Shot entirely black in his showroom in the manner of an exhibition, the monochrome “is a parti pris, black is an excessively Parisian code. It’s also a sort of a metaphor of a clean slate from where to start anew after all we’ve been through”, said Vauthier.
Negligee dress in stalactites and shards of crystals, great performance by Lesage; sequinned dress with a marvellously dense feather trim; leather shirtdress embroidered in a bandanna motif; Lesage-embroidered black leather perfectos worn over sequined bodysuits; or leather minidress, fringed with the help of Lemarié and paired with a black-feathered, punky head-to-toe headdress. Beyond the obvious glamour these rhinestone-studded looks exuded, Vauthier was more than ever focusing on couture’s crafts. As he said: “French couture is all about the allure”.
