‘’As a designer, what guides you is the world. What happens after 10 months of lockdown? You want freedom, people, seduction – and a party’’, said Alexandre Vauthier as he presented his Spring/Summer 2021 Haute Couture collection.

He reminisced about raucous nights and early mornings at Le Palace back in the ‘80s, when getting all dressed up was ‘’the ultimate seduction’’ and worlds collided on the dance floor.
Filmed by Albert Moya inside the legendary Paris nightclub ‘’Le Palace’’, his collection made our desire to get back to socializing apparent.
That approach translated into a lineup that looked like a cross-section of feminine archetypes. Mingling on the dance floor were the professional woman glamming up her well-cut cropped trouser suit with gold pointed boots – the boots were part of his first collection in partnership with Giuseppe Zanotti; glam rockers in a pair of glittering body suits; a tomboy, looking sharp in a vest, white T-shirt and leather trousers.
Elsewhere there were dresses in crystallized stretch jersey and a liquid mercury lamé jumpsuit, feather fringe on flares lavishly embroidered with fireworks, and a featherweight, ruffled dress in red lurex velvet – ruffles are a Vauthier signature.
Fashion is a reflection of its time, and a vocabulary. What I wanted to spell out was a message of optimism by presenting an idealized moment of freedom, joy, beauty and sharingAlexandre Vauthier
