Balenciaga has opened its first store in Chicago. Located at 15 East Oak Street, the 6,900-square-foot (641-square-meter), two-level boutique showcases Balenciaga‘s latest collections for men and women, including ready-to-wear, shoes, bags, accessories, eyewear and jewelry.

The store’s interior design is a testament to Balenciaga’s innovative Raw Architecture concept, which challenges the notion of authenticity by intentionally leaving surfaces unfinished and incorporating thought-provoking details. Rough edges, freestanding partitions and a unique mix of materials create an atmosphere that is both raw and refined.

Upon entering the store, customers are greeted by expansive brushed concrete floors reminiscent of sidewalk tiles, while walls of concrete or cement board panels create the illusion of a seamless transition between interior and exterior spaces. The illuminated ceiling suspended over key areas such as the shoe department, staircase and fitting rooms adds a touch of elegance to the industrial aesthetic.

Hot-rolled metal tables, angel hair finish metal shelving and hanging racks contribute to the warehouse or studio feel, while recycled leather upholstered seating provides a comfortable respite for shoppers. The modern environment is further enhanced by under-lit shelving, smoked glass panels, an inlaid carpet and high-definition screens.

The opening of Balenciaga‘s Chicago store follows the recent debut of a three-story flagship in Tokyo’s newly renovated Toraya Ginza building, a first in Ginza, Tokyo, which opened last month.
