British actor and producer Tom Hardy has been named the ambassador for Jo Malone London‘s Cologne Intense Cypress & Grapevine. Known for his cerebral performances that showcase depth, complexity, and versatility, Hardy brings his London roots to life in a campaign film for the fragrance, directed by Edward Berger and written by his father, Chips Hardy.

Tom is undeniably an immense talent. He’s intelligent, compassionate, generous and thoughtful,” says Jo Dancey, Senior Vice President/Global Managing Director of Jo Malone London. “It’s a true partnership that celebrates both Jo Malone London’s roots and Tom’s hometown.”

The collaboration goes beyond Tom Hardy simply being the face of the campaign. It highlights the importance of mental health, a cause close to both Tom Hardy and Jo Malone London. “It’s a real privilege to have Tom as part of the Jo Malone London family,” Dancey adds.

Cologne Intense Cypress & Grapevine, a fresh, woody fragrance that Hardy has worn for a long time, unites the aromatic notes of cypress with the warmth of vine and the sensuality of amber. “For me, Cologne Intense Cypress & Grapevine is a wonderfully classic, vintage and earthy fragrance,” says Hardy.

The campaign film, “The Exceptional and the Contradictory,” celebrates the idiosyncrasies, dichotomies, and quirks of London at twilight. Cinematographer James Friend and composer Volker Bertelmann contribute to the cinematic result, which not only brings out a liberating sense of pride in being a Londoner but also speaks to Tom Hardy’s relationship with the fragrance and the powerful role he plays in the narrative.
