Today when travel is for many of just a fragment of imagination, Olivier Rousteing and Balmain took us all on a true journey for the Fall/Winter 2021 collection.

And like all of us, this future, travel is on the mind for Olivier Rousteing.
Titled “Balmain Above and Beyond“, the collection took us aboard on Air France on an homage to French Couturier Pierre Balmain who, shortly after the founder established his couture house in 1945, took to the skies, in the company of his friend Gertrude Stein, to promote Parisian fashions, touching down in the U.S., England and even Australia.
“Now, post-2020, it’s a whole lot easier for us to appreciate just how exciting those trips must have been for Pierre Balmain”, Rousteing wrote. “After the anxious years of war and occupation, he was suddenly being offered the long-denied possibility of escaping to destinations that he had been dreaming about for years – and it must have felt incredible”.
The Fall/Winter 2021 collection was rife with pieces that would easily fit into a world traveler’s wardrobe : grand tailored coats with rows of gold buttons, meaty shearling vests, bomber jackets, versatile parkas and long trenches and plus lots of roomy pants in khaki green.
