BOTTER Fall/Winter 2021 – Paris Fashion Week Men’s

January 27, 2021

The COVID-19 pandemic is not only having negative effects. We can find positive impacts in this health crisis that will turn the lives of some of us upside down. Some take the opportunity to find new vocations, such as the duo Rushemy Botter and Lisi Herrebrugh from the Dutch label BOTTER.

While on lockdown in Holland, Lisi Herrebrugh and Rushemy Botter finally found the time to set a longstanding dream project in motion.

With the help of a local diving club and government authorities in France and Curaçao as well as a little support from close friends, they set up an underwater coral nursery long-distance in Curaçao, where Botter’s family is originally from.

This heart-shaped project became the starting point of their Fall/Winter 2021 collection. Entitled ‘’Romancing the Coral Reef’’, the collection was their most explicit love letter yet to this project and island life.

Presented against a dark, mystic backdrop, their ‘’Romancing the Coral Reef’’ collection was an ode to the sea, billowing fabrics and delicate drapery with sea motifs paying tribute to the marine world.

Their clothes were a daring fusion of the codes of classic tailoring filled with judicious details with clever fabric research – most of them upcycled – remarkable sharpness of the cuts and a palette of rich oceanic tones (deep blue, stark black, sandy brown and seashell white) punctuated with lively bursts of pastel across the collection, from rosy pink to lime green, recalling coral reefs.
