Fendi Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2022

July 12, 2022

For its Fall/Winter 2022 Haute Couture line, Fendi is moving away from its historical muse, Rome, the city where the house was established nearly 100 years ago.

This season, I wanted to step away from Rome”, Kim Jones said in the show’s note, which took place in a white stage setting at the Palais Brongniart in Paris.

This season, Kim Jones, an accomplished globetrotter, took us on a journey to two cities that are as opposite as they are complementary: Kyoto and Paris.

A tale of three cities – Kyoto, Rome and Paris – and a conversation between them”, he said.

Kyoto was “the starting point for this collection”, having inspired long, body-hugging dresses with thoughtful falls and prints reminiscent of traditional 18th century kimonos and Kata Yuzen, a painstaking technique of printing and hand-painting that has existed for hundreds of years.

Conversely, the city of light breathed a wind of romance into this collection. Long dresses in airy tulle, sensual strapless cut, delicate embroidery, plunging bareback promise a winter placed under the sign of love.

The inverted FF monogram, imagined by Karl Lagerfeld in 1965, comes to life in the form of natural yellow diamonds, illuminating each piece with couture optimism.
