Giorgio Armani’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection, “Cipria“, was a tribute to the personal, intimate moments of self-care and beauty rituals. The show was held in the basement of the designer’s own palazzo, creating a serene and confident atmosphere that was a stark contrast to the more flashy and extravagant shows we are often exposed to. The showspace was decorated in gray, off-white, and blush pink hues, with charcoal-veined marble and cushioned benches reminiscent of a private powder room.

The first model kicked off the show by walking out in a black beret, a loose trench coat, and high-rise track pants in camel and black patent oxfords. Throughout the show, a gentle spectrum of color was applied around each model’s eyes. The collection consisted of interrelated groups of looks, distinguished by the choice of earrings and two key decorative motifs – a sketched flower and an abstract group of finger-painted lines.

Texture was a key focus of the collection, with experimentation evident in the use of faux fur and silk, as well as fringed jackets and hats. Tailoring pieces were influenced by Asian traditional shapes, with outerwear tailored for ease of movement. The finale of the show featured a model in a full-length dress made of narrow strips of leather and black crepe, etched with crystals. She held up her compact and considered her make-up, highlighting the personal and intimate theme of the collection.
