Jil Sander Fall/Winter 2021 – Paris Fashion Week Men’s

February 1, 2021

Luke and Lucie Meier unveiled on the last day of Paris Fashion Week their Fall/Winter 2021 collection for Jil Sander, presented in a short film filmed in the Château de Franconville, the former home of the Duke of Massa, in Saint-Martin-du-Tertre in the Val-d’Oise, less than an hour’s drive from Paris.

Sharpness and minimalism, two great signatures of the Jil Sander house, were always present, offering a warm and human vision of the male wardrobe.

The collection of the Meier couple was an interplay of lean and soft garment that reflected the desire for tactility, cosiness and self-protection that defines it.

The balance of opposites at the heart of Lucie and Luke Meier’s work found here new forms and silhouettes. Men’s classics – suits, knit sweaters and overcoats – were overdone, with lengthened proportions that speak to an air of relaxation. These pieces were embellished with romantic black-and-white portraits of Bauhaus female artists shot in the 1920s by Florence Henri.

Matching many looks or worn on necks of sweaters, jewelry, charms and hammered silver necklaces synthesized the reciprocity of strength and vulnerability that Lucie and Luke Meier consistently suggest while others spelling out the word ‘’mother’’ declared the importance of kinship.

The color palette of white, beige, chocolate brown and black juxtaposed with delicate touches of lilac and mint green, as well as bright yellow and aqua, came to point out the delicacy and emotional vulnerability that can actually become one’s biggest strength.
