Max Mara Fall/Winter 2022 – Milan Fashion Week

February 28, 2022

This season, Max Mara creative director Ian Griffiths paid homage to architect, dancer, textile designer, painter, and sculptor Sophie Taeuber-Arp, who was closely affiliated with the Dada movement – Taeuber-Arp is currently the subject of a retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Max Mara’s silhouettes were inspired by her avant-garde work, specifically her costumes and marionettes that play with contrasting proportions.

In all the hues of a Taeuber-Arp tapestry, the collection explored playful contrasts of mini and maxi, micro and macro, skinny and outsize.

What I wanted to express in this collection was the variety of Max Mara women. So the collection works on long and short, wide and narrow, micro and macro, and each exit in the show is an individual personality”, Griffiths said.
